The Nordonia Hills Branch Library will host a full slate of September events even as the building stays closed for renovations. Reopening is planned for summer 2027. Staff continue to run limited programming at nearby locations across Macedonia and Northfield.
Teen gamers, young children and adult readers all have options this month. Below is what is scheduled and where to find it.
Teen gaming nights move to MV Games
Teens in grades 6 to 12 can duel it out at Magic the Gathering sessions on Tuesday, September 1 and Tuesday, September 15, from 5 to 6 p.m. Dungeons and Dragons follows on Tuesday, September 8 and Tuesday, September 22, also from 5 to 6 p.m. Both games meet at MV Games, 10545 Northfield Road in Northfield, while the branch renovation continues.

Storytimes and family events for young children
Two storytimes land on the same day at the Macedonia City Center, 9691 Valley View Road. Baby and Toddler Storytime runs Thursday, September 10, from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m., aimed at ages 0 to 3, though all ages are welcome. Preschool Storytime follows from 11:30 a.m. to noon, geared toward ages 3 to 5.
A Pop Up Family Storytime moves outdoors on Thursday, September 17, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Beacon Hills Park. Families with young children can join songs, stories, rhymes and movement built to support early literacy skills.
Book discussions for adults
Readers can join two separate discussion groups this month. The Afternoon Book Discussion meets Thursday, September 10, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Community Room at the Macedonia City Center, on the ground floor. Members will talk through “A Marriage at Sea” by Sophie Elmhirst, a true account of a couple whose sailing trip across the Pacific Ocean turned into a fight for survival after a whale struck their boat.
Mystery fans can meet at the Mystery Lovers Book Discussion, held at UMC of Macedonia on Wednesday, September 30, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The group will discuss “Forget Me Not” by Stacy Willingham. Both discussions are open to adults.
Author Tim Misny visits Main Library
One of Northeast Ohio’s most recognized personalities visits the Main Library on Monday, September 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. Attorney Tim Misny, known widely for his billboard ads across Summit County, will discuss his new book, “The Misny Method.” Author Jim Kukral, who cowrote the book, will moderate a conversation and question and answer session about the writing process and the ideas behind it.
Misny will take photos and sign copies of the book after the event, while supplies last. The event will include American Sign Language interpretation.
