Saturday’s game against Boardman was a heartbreaker for Nordonia Knights, as they lost the lead late in a 3-1 defeat. The game was tied at one with Boardman batting in the top of the tenth when Seth Cervello‘s sac fly scored one run for Boardman.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Boardman pitchers struck out eight, while Nordonia Knights sat down three.
Boardman got things started in the second inning. Anthony Butto‘s sac fly scored one run for Boardman.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Nordonia Knights tied things up at one. Nordonia Knightsscored one run when Aidan Chilton singled.
Nate Fleming got the start for Boardman. The pitcher went five innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out two.
Adam Yuzwa was on the mound for Nordonia Knights. The pitcher allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out two. Hunter Grams threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Jordan Newhouse led Nordonia Knights with two hits in three at bats.
Jimmy Whippo went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Boardman in hits. Boardman didn’t commit a single error in the field. Butto had the most chances in the field with 12.
