Knights drop road match in Akron

The Nordonia Knights girls soccer team couldn’t overcome an early deficit Saturday, falling 4-2 to Archbishop Hoban in a non-conference match at Akron.

The loss dropped the Knights’ record to 1-7-1 overall, while Archbishop Hoban improved to 7-2 on the season. Nordonia has struggled offensively this year, averaging just 0.6 goals per game.

Archbishop Hoban has been one of the area’s top scoring teams, averaging 3.7 goals per contest. The victory continued their strong start to the season.

The Knights have faced a challenging schedule, going 0-3 in conference play. They will look to get back on track with upcoming matches against common opponents both teams will face later in the season, including Wadsworth, Hudson, Roosevelt and Stow-Munroe Falls.

Nordonia holds a 1-0 advantage in the head-to-head series between these programs, though Archbishop Hoban evened the recent matchup with Saturday’s victory.

The Knights will look to bounce back when they host Twinsburg on Tuesday.
