In this day and age with so many young people addicted to devices, it is nice to see the Nordonia Rotary taking an active role in teaching 3rd graders the importance of a looking up just the right word in an actual dictionary.
Members from the Nordonia Rotary visited several Nordonia Elementary classrooms last month and distributed the dictionaries. The students were able to put their name in the dictionaries and take them home. Nordonia Rotary President John Bosco stated “It is such a joy to see a child’s face light up when they receive their very own dictionary!”
Students then took crayons and markers to paper and showed their appreciation (see pictures above).
When researching dictionaries I found a website that had the word of today (12/7/19):
Word of the Day: Sanguine adjective – cheerfully optimistic or hopeful
That glorious vision of doing good is so often the sanguine mirage of so many good souls.
from ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ by Charles Dickens, 1812-1870

That act of “doing good” is just what Rotary is all about!
