Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights With Tough Game Against Twinsburg

Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights had trouble keeping up with Twinsburg in a 15-5 loss on Monday.

Twinsburg jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Tamaya Peiris singled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights scored on a wild pitch, which helped Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights tie the game at three in the bottom of the third.

In the bottom of the fourth, Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights broke up the tie when Gracie Smith doubled, scoring one run. Then an error followed to extend the lead to 5-3.

Twinsburg made the score 7-5 in the top of the fifth after Sophie Galluppi singled, scoring one run, Marlena Riley singled, scoring one run, and Rory McConoughy doubled, scoring two runs.

Twinsburg scored five runs on three hits in the top of the seventh inning. Galluppi singled, scoring one run, Mackenzie Sweeney doubled, scoring two runs, Riley Velican lined out, scoring one run, and Kylie Eder singled, scoring one run.

Velican earned the win for Twinsburg. The hurler gave up nine hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking none. Haylie Lambes took the loss for Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights. The starting pitcher went five innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking three. Riley started in the circle for Twinsburg. The pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over two innings, striking out none and walking none.

Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights accumulated 13 hits in the game. Brooke Becker led Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights with three hits in four at bats. Maddie Nyce, Smith, and Morgan Ritchie each drove in one run for Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights. Kirra Smeal and Laura Garey each collected multiple hits for Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights.

Twinsburg amassed 13 hits in the game. Sweeney drove the middle of the lineup, leading Twinsburg with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Galluppi, Eder, McConoughy, and Peiris each collected multiple hits for Twinsburg. Parker Sweeney paced Twinsburg with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game.

Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights will travel to Wadsworth for their next game on Tuesday.
