Nordonia Knights Varsity defeated North Royalton 13-12 on Tuesday thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at 12 with Nordonia Knights Varsity batting in the bottom of the seventh when Jordyn Dean singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Nordonia Knights Varsity built a four-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off North Royalton’s charge. North Royalton managed six runs in the failed comeback. Felton, E Weiser, Dlugolinski, and Felton all picked up RBIs in the rally. Nordonia Knights Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Hannah Ours’s sac fly scored one run for Nordonia Knights Varsity.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Nordonia Knights Varsity tied things up at 12. Rachel Cornett drove in two when she singled. Nordonia Knights Varsity notched five runs in the third inning. Nordonia Knights Varsity’s big inning was driven by singles by Jenn Willis, Kayla Buck, and Kendall Becker and a double by Hallie Majoros. North Royalton scored five runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for North Royalton came thanks to doubles by Weiser and Felton and a single by Dlugolinski. Cornett got the start for Nordonia Knights Varsity. She lasted six innings, allowing 12 hits and 12 runs while striking out one and walking one.
Baracz led things off on the hill for North Royalton. She lasted one and one-third innings, allowing three hits and six runs. Heffke threw five innings in relief out of the bullpen. Nordonia Knights Varsity totaled 13 hits in the game. Becker, Cornett, Ours, Willis, and Dean each racked up multiple hits for Nordonia Knights Varsity. Becker went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Nordonia Knights Varsity in hits. North Royalton collected 13 hits on the day. Heffke, Andexler, Weiser, and Felton all managed multiple hits for North Royalton.
