It was a great night for Football and the Knight’s first home game. Mayfield stunned the crowd when they scored less than two minutes into the game. Rocco Monastero passed to Dylan Parnell for 57 yards for the touchdown. The point after kick by Nick Biega was good.
Nordonia answered soon after with 8 points when Joey Palinkas passed to Zach Zender and he ran it into the end zone. Zach also ran in the two point conversion.
Nordonia was able to score again in the first quarter when Joey ran in for a touchdown. The point after by Craig Aiken was good.
Nordonia scored 12 unanswered points in the second quarter. In the third quarter, Mike Ebert ran 26 yards for a touchdown. Mayfield scored with a touchdown run by Anthony Santoro but the point after kick was blocked by Nick Biega.
The fourth quarter was action packed with both teams scoring 14 points. But in the end, Mayfield’s quarterback, Aiden Arth’s pass was intercepted by Tucker Rusk for a touchdown. The point after kick by Connell Rafferty was good! Mayfield ran six plays but was unable to put more points on the board.
Nordonia converted 25% of their fourth down attempts (1/4) while Mayfield did not convert any (0/6). Nordonia had 34 rushing attempts for 173 yards, while Mayfield had 43 rushing attempts for 164 yards.
The two teams were evenly matched in passing yards. Nordonia with 212 and Mayfield 199. However Nordonia was able to complete 27 of their 18 attempts at passing attempts and Mayfield only completed 10 of their 26 attempted passes.
