The Business of the Month for May has been awarded to Jackson Comfort Heating and Cooling! This is a new feature at NordoniaHills.News and is sponsored by Swamper Design Company.
They have been selected for many reasons. They are a pillar of the business community, they treat their employees well, the employees treat customers with respect, they have wonderful customer service and go above and beyond for community service.
Not only are they an advertiser here at NordoniaHills.News, they also were advertisers when I ran an internet radio station called NEO Community Radio.
When presented with the award, Gary Jaskson said: “We at Jackson Comfort feel fortunate to be part of the Nordonia Hills community. It’s a great place to live and work. Our participation in organizations such as the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and YMCA allow us to give something back to the community that supports us.”
How did they get started? Paul Jackson began his business career in the 1950’s working with his father and brother Walt in Cleveland after completing a tour in the US Navy. They worked on heating equipment, but also roofing and sheetmetal fabrication, including building steel tanks for the Navy. Eventually a changing neighborhood caused Paul and Walt to close the business in Cleveland. Walt opened an equipment rental store and Paul reopened the heating business in Northfield, retaining many original customers. Paul’s son Mark joined him part time while attending Nordonia High School and vocational school for HVAC. Mark joined the business full time after graduating from the West Side Institute of Technology in 1977. Paul’s other son Gary joined the business in 1979 after graduating from Kent State University. Gary’s wife Fonda and Mark’s wife Pat joined the company in the 1980’s and remain at JCS today. The business has grown to over 30 employees serving all of Summit County and parts of all surrounding counties. Mark and Pat’s son Doug joined the staff at JCS full time after also graduating from Kent State University, extending the family operation to four generations. Paul is now mostly retired but still visits the office to keep an eye on the kids and make sure the business continues to meet his high standards so someday there will be a 5th generation at JCS!
