NORTHFIELD CENTER — Township trustees unanimously appointed Steven Wright as township administrator at their Nov. 5 meeting.
He is to start his duties Nov. 19, and will replace Sam Ciocco, who died May 30. Ciocco, a resident of Reminderville, had been the township’s administrator for more than 20 years.
A one-year probationary period is required for Wright, and a benefits package will be available to him after 30 days of employment.
He was a Ph.D. candidate in public affairs and policy analysis at the University of Akron from 2006-09, earned master of public administration degree from UA in 2003 and a bachelor of arts in psychology and legal studies from Bowling Green State University in 1996.
He also has worked for the city of Virginia Beach’s parks and recreation department, Cuyahoga County Tapestry System of Care in Cleveland and the city of Stow.
From 2014-16, he was principal analyst for the city of Norfolk, Virginia’s Office of Budget and Strategic Planning, and from 2012-14 he was budget, finance and performance measurement coordinator for the city of Virginia Beach, Va.’s Department of Public Libraries.
Since 2016, Wright has been the director of business intelligence for the Cuyahoga County Office of Innovation and Performance, where he worked with various departments to address strategic planning and performance management, and processed improvement needs.
He is a member of the American Society for Public Administration and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants.
