Northfield Village Police Handle Fraud, Theft Cases and OVI Arrest

Check fraud, casino voucher theft among recent incidents

Northfield Village police responded to multiple incidents last week, including check fraud, theft reports and an OVI arrest.

A female resident visited the police department Monday morning, October 7, to report an incident of check fraud. Police have concluded their initial investigation into the matter.

Later that day, a man reported his $959 casino voucher was stolen at MGM Northfield Park after it fell from his pocket. Security video reviewed by officers showed the voucher on the ground for five seconds before an unidentified man picked it up and left with it. Police have taken a report on the incident.

On Wednesday, October 9, officers responded to Peppers Fresh Market on Northfield Road for a theft report from earlier that day. Police spoke with store management and have identified a suspect in the case. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.

Early Saturday morning, October 12, a driver was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence after an officer observed the vehicle weaving on Northfield Road near Sagamore Road. The traffic stop occurred at 12:17 a.m., and the driver was taken into custody and cited to appear in Stow Municipal Court.
