DUI Driver Busted During Routine Patrol

A routine traffic stop on Northfield Road turned into a DUI arrest on August 27 when a Northfield Village officer pulled over a white Mercedes SUV for erratic driving. The female driver failed field sobriety tests and blew a .114 BAC – well over Ohio’s legal limit of .08. She was cited for OVI, prohibited BAC, and improper use of high beams before being released to her husband with a court date pending.

Vicious Dog Attack Sends Two to Ground

Two people were injured in a dog attack on Coventry Drive August 24 that required police intervention. Officers arrived to find a woman on the ground and a man with bite wounds after being attacked by a loose dog. Northfield Village Fire Department treated both victims at the scene, though neither required hospital transport. The attacking dog’s owner was cited for allowing their animal to run at large, while both victims declined to press charges.

Armed Robbery Rocks Quiet Neighborhood

A juvenile became the victim of a street robbery on Canter Lane August 26 in what police are calling a weapons offense. The suspect fled in a vehicle before officers could respond to the scene. Police contacted the victim’s mother, who indicated she would decide on pursuing charges once she returned home. The case remains active with robbery charges pending.

Casino Vandalism Case Nets Warrant

What started as a simple vandalism report at MGM Casino has escalated into a criminal case. A male victim reported his vehicle was damaged while parked at the facility August 25. Police quickly identified a female suspect through their investigation. She now faces criminal damaging charges and will have a warrant issued if she fails to turn herself in voluntarily.

Family drama led to a welfare check on Roosevelt Avenue August 22 when concerns arose about a domestic situation between a grandmother and grandson. Officers found the grandmother had fallen and couldn’t get up, prompting a fire department response. She declined medical transport and no charges were filed.

A daycare incident prompted a mother to file a report August 25 regarding something that happened to her child. The case was immediately forwarded to detectives for further investigation.

Police recovered a stolen U-Haul truck from the Sunset Motel on Northfield Road August 28. The vehicle was showing up as stolen in the LEADS database and was impounded before being returned to the rental company.
