Also, Council Still Mulling Bank Property Ideas
By Emily Chesnic
He told Council the duplicate bills were not discovered prior to hitting the mail, and he is not sure why the issue occurred, as the double bills were sent randomly and not all to the same area of the community.
Walters does not believe anyone has made a double payment, however.
Bank Lot
Walters reminded Council at the meeting a decision should be made soon regarding village-owned property at 10435 Northfield Road.
The property, donated to the village in 2017, used to be home to a PNC Bank, with the village recently demolishing the vacant building at a cost of about $27,000.
Earlier this year, village officials debated putting in a parking lot at the site to be used by village employees and patrons of local businesses. The choice was made to further consider ideas for the first half of 2021, however.
Since the land now is empty, Walters told Council the property “doesn’t look great” at this time, and a path moving forward should be identified by summer.
Fire Department Personnel
Also, at the meeting, Council voted to hire staff for the Northfield Village Fire Department. Council unanimously approved the appointment of four new firefighter/paramedics, hiring Nico Conforte, Jeffrey Gostkowski, John Repp and Adam Wagner.
Electronic Sign
Council authorized Mayor Jesse Nehez to accept the quote of Brilliant Electric Sign. Co. Ltd., of Brooklyn Heights, for an electronic sign for Village Hall, with the cost of the sign not to exceed $35,000.
Lot Consolidation
Council confirmed an April 21 decision made by the Planning Commission, approving a lot consolidation in the village. The revised plat was requested by property owners of 133 Summit Avenue.
