Northfield Village Officers Arrest Theft Suspect, Handle Family Disputes in Early May

The Northfield Village Police Department responded to several incidents during the first half of May, according to the department’s official blotter covering May 6 through May 11, 2025.

Theft/Larceny

On May 6 at 12:23 a.m., officers were dispatched to Circle K on Northfield Rd. for a report of a theft in progress. According to the report, officers observed a white Jeep traveling southbound on Northfield Rd. after the suspect had fled the scene.

“The driver became immediately non-compliant and obstructed our investigation,” noted Ptl. Wilson, who conducted a traffic stop at Valley View Rd. Officers detected “a strong odor of alcohol along with other signs of impairment” from the driver.

The driver was placed under arrest for theft, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Police reported that the individual refused to provide a breath sample.

Drug Possession

Later that same day at 2:43 p.m., Ptl. McKay responded to a location on Northfield Rd. regarding a payment dispute. Property owners had attempted to collect payment from a male resident who had not paid his nightly rate and were unsuccessful in receiving payment.

According to the police report, “The owners wanted the male trespassed from the property.” The individual was subsequently arrested by Northfield Village Police Department for drug possession.

Domestic Violence

Officers responded to a residence on May 7 at 8:29 p.m. regarding a report of an unruly juvenile. The juvenile’s father had called police for assistance.

Upon arrival, officers determined that the juvenile had caused harm to their father. The report states the juvenile “was arrested for domestic violence” and transported to Summit County Juvenile Detention Center where they await arraignment.

Disorderly Conduct

On May 10 at 8:59 a.m., NVPD was dispatched to a Cambridge Drive residence following reports of a male yelling and making threats to a homeowner.

When officers arrived on scene, the male was no longer present. The police report indicates “it was determined it was a family member and there was a dispute between the male and the Cambridge Drive homeowner.”

Officers gathered information and filed a report for disorderly conduct. The case has since been closed.
