Police Blotter: Domestic Violence, OVI Arrests, and Reports of Fraud in Northfield Village

NORTHFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio – The Northfield Village Police Department managed a wide array of criminal and service-related incidents between February 18 and March 3, 2026. Key enforcement actions included the arrest of a suspect for domestic violence and resisting arrest, several citations for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI), and investigations into local financial crimes.

Domestic Violence and Resisting Arrest on Monroe Drive

On February 21, 2026, Northfield Village Police Department (NVPD) officers were dispatched to a residence on Monroe Drive following a report of domestic violence. During the course of the investigation, a female suspect actively resisted arrest while officers attempted to take her into custody. She was subsequently charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest. The suspect was held at the Macedonia Jail awaiting her arraignment in Stow Municipal Court on February 23.

OVI Arrests and Traffic Enforcement in Northfield Village

Traffic safety remained a priority as officers conducted several stops leading to OVI charges:

  • Houghton Road: On February 27, a traffic stop near Victory Drive resulted in the driver being arrested and cited for OVI and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. A passenger in the same vehicle was also arrested and charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

  • Ledge Road: On February 28, an officer stopped a silver Ford Explorer for a marked lanes violation. The driver showed signs of impairment and refused a breath sample after field sobriety tests. He was cited for OVI and marked lanes before being released with a court date.

  • Firearm Investigation: A speeding stop on Olde Eight Road on February 28 led to the temporary detention of a driver who disclosed he had a firearm. Although initial checks suggested he was prohibited from possessing a weapon, further investigation confirmed he was legally allowed to carry it. The firearm was returned, and he received a written warning for speed.

Theft and Disorderly Conduct at Local Businesses

Officers responded to several calls involving disruptive behavior and property crimes:

  • MGM Property: On February 20, a male was arrested for the theft of alcohol from the gas station on Northfield Road. On February 23, an intoxicated female was removed from a bathroom stall at the casino after refusing to leave; she was charged with criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, and obstructing official business.

  • Smith Park: On February 27, police investigated reports of three males pointing a gun at people. Officers determined the weapon was a BB gun fired on park property. One adult and one juvenile were charged with disorderly conduct and trespassed from the park.

Fraud and Financial Crime Investigations

The department is currently investigating multiple reports of financial misconduct. On February 19, the Northfield License Bureau reported an instance of an individual passing a bad check to the business. More recently, on March 2, a resident arrived at the station to file a formal report regarding a separate financial crime, which remains under active investigation.
