NORTHFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio – The Northfield Village Police Department managed a variety of service calls during the first full week of March 2026, ranging from civil matters to criminal arrests. Key activity included an OVI arrest near the MGM Casino, the recovery of a counterfeit bill at a local school, and a response to a toddler found wandering alone. Officers also investigated reports of menacing and telecommunications harassment, successfully closing several cases through restitution or internal school discipline.
MGM Casino Theft and OVI Arrests
Police activity was concentrated near the MGM Casino on Northfield Road during this period. On March 6, a female reported a stolen ticket voucher from the casino. Following an investigation, a male suspect was identified; he subsequently agreed to pay back the full voucher amount of $180.25 to the casino via check, leading to the closure of the case. Additionally, late on the night of March 8, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the casino parking lot which resulted in the driver being arrested for OVI and cited into Stow Municipal Court.
Juvenile Safety and Northfield Village Police School Interventions
The Northfield Village police were called to local educational facilities multiple times to ensure student safety.
-
BB Gun Investigation: Officers investigated a social media post featuring a juvenile with what appeared to be a firearm; the item was located on Roosevelt Drive and confirmed to be a BB gun.
-
Counterfeit Currency: At Lee Eaton Intermediate School, officials recovered a counterfeit bill. The police took the bill for destruction, while the school handled the student’s discipline internally.
-
Medical Emergency: NVPD and fire units also provided emergency medical treatment to a child at Kid Friendly Academy before the child was transported by rescue squads.
Endangering Children and Public Nuisance Reports
A serious safety concern arose on May Avenue when a resident discovered a two-year-old girl outside alone and crying. The child was taken to Ahuja Medical Center for a precautionary assessment, and Child Services was notified. While the mother was informed, another female was charged with endangering children and issued a court date. In a separate, less severe incident on Monroe Drive, a civil matter was noted after paint cans fell out of a trash hopper during collection, spilling latex paint across the roadway.
Harassment and Suspicious Persons on Northfield Road
Officers responded to the “Little Busy Beez” daycare for two separate reports involving the same location. In one instance, a resident reported being spit on by a male, though no charges were filed. Later that day, police returned to identify the male and officially advised him that he would face criminal trespassing charges if he returned to the property. Finally, a business on Northfield Road reported telecommunications harassment from a terminated employee; the individual was warned to cease contact, and the employees involved declined to press formal charges.
