Sexual Assault Investigation Opened
A detective began an investigation on Aug. 6 after receiving a message from Summit County Children Services about a possible sexual assault. The detective returned the call and spoke with a person who had originally contacted police. That person provided information to start the investigation. Casino Trespasser Arrested After Giving False ID
On Aug. 9, officers responded to Northfield Park Racino after finding a person inside who was under a lifetime ban from the property. When officers made contact, the suspect gave false identification. The suspect was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, obstructing official business and falsification. A judge set a personal recognizance bond, and the suspect is due in court on Aug. 14. The case is closed.
Lost Wallet Under Investigation
A man went to the Northfield Village Police Department on Aug. 5 to report a lost wallet. He told officers he lost the wallet on July 29 while visiting Northfield Park Racino. He asked police to investigate whether it was lost, found or stolen. Officers took a written statement, and the case remains under investigation.
Multiple Medical Calls Reported at Northfield Park Racino
Police and fire crews responded to several falls at Northfield Park Racino during the week.
On Aug. 7 at 4:03 p.m., a patron fell and hit her head inside the casino. She refused transport, and her son said he would take responsibility for her care. Later that evening, at 4:23 p.m., a different patron fell and initially seemed confused. She was alert on arrival and declined transport. A third call came in at 7:24 p.m. for a patron who fell off her chair. She was evaluated and taken to Ahuja Hospital.
Two more falls were reported the following days. On Aug. 8 at 10:29 p.m., fire crews treated a patron on scene and released her to a family member. On Aug. 9 at 2:24 a.m., another patron was treated on scene and transported to Ahuja Medical Center for further care.
Police also assisted a rescue squad on Aug. 4 after a resident fell in the area of Lowrie Boulevard. The resident was transported to a Cleveland Clinic facility, and the case was closed.
Traffic Stop Leads to OVI Check
On Aug. 9, officers on patrol stopped a vehicle after observing a traffic violation. The driver was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device. During the stop, officers checked the driver for signs of impairment. According to the report, everything checked out.
