Multiple incidents at MGM Northfield were reported this week, including an assault on a police officer that required assistance from neighboring Sagamore Hills Police Department. Police also made arrests for OVI and trespassing at the casino property.
MGM Casino Incidents
Assault on Police Officer – April 26
At approximately 10:30 PM on April 26, officers were investigating a sexual imposition complaint at MGM Casino when they encountered the male subject of the complaint, who had been directed to leave by security. The intoxicated male displayed turbulent behavior, attempting to leave while officers tried to detain him. The situation escalated as the male continually obstructed officers by pulling away and grabbing at them. During the altercation, the suspect tripped an officer and bit another officer. Due to his continued resistance, EMS was called to secure the suspect to a stretcher for hospital transport. Upon medical release, he was booked into Summit County Jail awaiting court appearance. Sagamore Hills Police Department officers responded to assist Northfield Village Police during this incident, leading to the arrest of Kyle Martin Christensen.
OVI Arrest – April 26
Around 2:00 AM on April 26, MGM security alerted police to two highly intoxicated males attempting to leave the property in a black SUV. Officers located and stopped the vehicle, resulting in the driver’s arrest for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence. After booking, the suspect was released with a mandatory court date in Stow Municipal Court.
Criminal Trespass – April 27
At 9:35 AM on April 27, officers responded to MGM regarding a male who was on the property despite being trespassed in May 2023. The individual was arrested for Criminal Trespass and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. After processing at the Northfield Village Police Department, he was released on personal recognizance.
Other Incidents
Medical Emergency – April 23
Officers responded to a residence on Coventry Drive at 5:29 AM for a report of an unresponsive male. The caller reported finding the individual not breathing and cold to the touch upon waking. Summit County Medical Examiner released the deceased, and custody was transferred to Ferfolia Funeral Home.
