The Northfield Village Police Department responded to several incidents between April 15-21, including multiple fraud cases, a juvenile dispute, and an OVI arrest.
Fraud Incidents
On April 16 at approximately 3:24 p.m., officers responded to Citizens Bank on Northfield Road for two separate fraud reports. Bank staff alerted officers about fraudulent activity involving both a female and male customer. Officers advised the male customer it was safe to re-deposit his money and work with banking staff to resolve the issue.
Traffic Violations
Officers arrested a driver for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence on April 17 at approximately 8:38 p.m. Patrolman Wilson observed a white Hyundai traveling southbound on Northfield Road run a red light at Maple Avenue. During the subsequent traffic stop, the officer detected alcohol odor and observed signs of impairment. After field sobriety tests were conducted, the driver was arrested and transported to Northfield Village Police Department where she provided a breath sample measuring .177 BAC. The driver received citations for OVI, Prohibited BAC, and Traffic Control Device violations before being released to a sober person.
Juvenile Incidents
Officers responded to a Roosevelt Avenue residence on April 16 at approximately 5:17 p.m. regarding a disagreement between multiple juveniles. A follow-up investigation was conducted at the same location on April 20 at 4:12 p.m., where officers spoke with a juvenile and his grandfather about a video posted on Snapchat. An investigation was initiated.
Theft
On April 20 at approximately 7:57 p.m., officers responded to MGM Casino on Northfield Road for a theft report. After speaking with the victim, police initiated an investigation into the offense.
