ANTONIO “Tony” DOMENICO CARRIERO, age 84; beloved husband of Maria (nee Zullo) for 54 wonderful years. Tony was a loving Papa to John, Angela (Dana), Rosanna, Maria (John Michael), and Antonio Jr. (Tara) and beloved Tatucc (grandfather) to nine beautiful grandchildren – Mason, Jackson, Asher, Adelina, Lucia, Antonio III, Carmela, Giacobbe, and Alessia. Son of the late Giovanni and Antonia (nee Tomaro); brother of late Mario (Debbie) and Rosa (Camillo); dear brother-in-law to Tony, late Mike (Angela), and Teresa (Frank, deceased). He was an uncle, great uncle, cousin, compare, patino, and dear friend to many. Tony was a longtime dedicated, and active member of the Baranello Lodge for 55 years; having served as president for two terms and trustee for many years. Tony was admired by many; he was respectful and honorable. He was kind, loving, always provided a helping hand and most of all he was a dedicated, strong, and hardworking family man. He was born and raised in Baranello, Italy. At the age of 18, aboard the “Olympia” passenger ship he embarked on a journey of a lifetime. He traveled to America and arrived at the port of New York, New York on September 17, 1956. Upon arrival, he traded his gold watch for enough money to make it to Cleveland, Ohio; where he met his future wife and began his family. He had many hobbies. He loved playing his button box (accordion), making homemade wine, sauce, sausage, bread and curing prosciutto. He was a fantastic cook and loved hosting family and friends to enjoy a meal. He had a contagious smile and loved to be around others. Tony brought the best out of you; being described as the hardest worker anyone knew; he was a machine. When describing him, many would say “They don’t make ‘em like they used to!” – he was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed. Tony entered eternal life peacefully on January 7th, embraced in his loving wife’s arms and surrounded by his family.
