Charlotte A. “Char” Vaughn, 81, of Mentor and formerly of Northfield, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 4:50 p.m. at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born May 10, 1942 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Albert Cika. A 1960 graduate of Chaney High School, Char furthered her education from Kent State University with a Master’s degree in education. Early in her teaching career, Char taught business and typing at Boardman High School. After relocating to the Cleveland area, she taught business at Beachwood High School and was a college professor at Bryant & Stratton Business College before retiring. Char was a member of St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church in Youngstown. She enjoyed knitting and needle point embroidery. Char is survived by her loving husband David E. Vaughn, whom she married on June 17, 1967 at St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church; her daughter Susan L. (Chad) Atzemis of Chesterland; and two grandchildren Isabella and Maia Atzemis. Besides her parents, Char was preceded in death by a brother Frank Cika. A graveside service was held in the chapel at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
