Obituary: Christine Bruin

Christine Sabina Bruin, (nee Kaluzny), age 78, of Macedonia, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Christine is the beloved wife of the late John Frederick Bruin, Jr; devoted mother of Deborah (David) Charles, John (Amber) Bruin III and Jennifer (Thomas) Lodwick; cherished grandmother of Victoria Charles, David Charles, Julian Bruin, Hayden Bruin, Isabella Bruin, John Bruin IV and Finnegan Lodwick and great grandmother of Clarissa Anderson, Clarence Anderson, Riley Charles, Lilly Churak and Tino Valez; loving sister of Sophie (David) Hicks, Linda (Mike, deceased) Zolonowski and the late Donna (Fred, surviving) Fox; dear aunt and great aunt.

Christine enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her husband, John, who were inseparable and married for 53 years before he passed.

She was very proud of becoming a naturalized citizen in 1997 and had a passion for politics. She gave regular solicited feedback to Congressman Sherrod Brown about the needs and challenges facing seniors over a span of several years. She also led Citizens to Bring Broadway Back, a community organization in the early ’80s to revitalize our neighborhood including mobilizing the community to help clean up the schools and various green spaces.

Christine was a devoted Cleveland sports fan and really enjoyed puzzle games like scrabble, game shows like Jeopardy and she would like to compete with her children trying to guess the Final Jeopardy question.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests keeping with her love of outdoors and parks plant a tree in memory of Christine.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4-7 PM with a closing service at 7 PM at Busch-Romito Funeral Home, 99 W. Aurora Road (Rt. 82, 1 mile west of Rt. 8) Northfield Center, Ohio www.buschcares.com
