DALE T. KNOX, age 70, passed away on June 23, 2022. Beloved husband of Deborah (nee Shriver); loving father of Kathryn “Katie” Steele (Aaron), Daniel, and Mathew; dear grandfather of Aubrey and Kelsey Steele; brother of David (Kathy), Dennis (Karin), and Diane Kisel (Tom); brother-in-law of Linda Morrison (Roger).

Dale and Debbie planned to spend their retirement volunteering at visitor centers in many of the national and state parks they had enjoyed during their travels.  Their first assignment was at Fort Raleigh National Historical Site at the Outer Banks in North Carolina.  It became such a wonderful experience that they returned and served three winter seasons there.  Dale had hoped to be able to share more fully some of the untold stories that are also represented at the site….not just the stories of the first English “Lost Colony”.   He hoped to help the park expand the telling of some of the hidden stories at the site such as the Carolina Algonquin people, the rich Civil War era history including the Underground Railroad, and the establishment of the first Freedman’s Colonies.

Friends may call at THE FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 WEST AURORA RD (OH RT 82), SAGAMORE HILLS FOR VISITATION ON MONDAY FROM 4-6 P.M. Dale’s funeral services will immediately follow at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a tax-deductible donation to Outer Banks Forever in Dale’s memory to support Fort Raleigh National Historical Site – a place he loved greatly.  Outer Banks Forever is the official nonprofit partner that helps protect and enhance the national parks of the Outer Banks.  Donations can be made online at www.obxforever.orgor by mail to: Outer Banks Forever, PO Box 1635, Kill Devil Hills, NC  27948.
