Edna Dorothy Allen (née McCann), 98, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022, in Tallahassee, Florida, with loving family by her side. Born on May 25, 1924, in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, she was a longtime resident of Northfield, Ohio.

Edna lived a rich and rewarding life, enjoying many years of work at Western Electric in Solon and cherishing the dear friendship of former co-workers right up to the end of her life. In retirement, she loved being active, traveling south for winter vacations in Florida, fishing and playing golf, and floating gracefully across the floor with her husband and dance partner, Don.

She was remarkably kind, tremendously thoughtful, and amazingly resilient—displaying a real can-do attitude and never missing an opportunity to express her affection to others. She loved sports, especially her favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers. Until the pandemic, she was active in a bowling league with “her girls” at Roseland Lanes in Oakwood Village, Ohio.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Briggs, and son-in-law, Joseph Briggs, of Tallahassee, Florida; her son, Brian Ridgeway of Concord, Ohio; her grandchildren, Adam and Kristen “Missy” Briggs, and Jeffrey and Christopher Ridgeway; great-grandchildren Thomas “Caleb” Hopkins, Sophia Briggs, Benjamin and Kaylee Ridgeway, and William Briggs; and many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Allen, her sister, Genevieve Stanley, and her parents, John and Mattie McCann.

A memorial service will be celebrated in Tallahassee, Florida, at Beggs Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9, at 6:00 p.m.  All are invited to gather at the Ferfolia Funeral Home, 356 West Aurora Rd. (OH RT 82), Sagamore Hills on Monday, June 13, at 11:45 a.m. to form a funeral procession for graveside services at All Saints Cemetery.
