Obituary: Frederick “Fred” Andrew Hartmann

Frederick “Fred” Andrew Hartmann, age 83 of Northfield passed away Friday, January 19, 2018.  Son of the late Frederick D. and Katherine (nee Van Driel) Hartmann; step-son of the late Margarette Hartmann; Beloved husband of Jeannette (nee Vella) Hartmann; loving father of Katherine (David) Hietanen and the late Gregory Scott Hartmann; dear grandfather of Benjamin (Ashlee) Hietanen and Margaret (Fiance Kevin Kieliszek) Hietanen and brother of the late Leonard J. Hartmann.  Fred served in the Naval Air Reserve for 6 years. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and was Assistant Fire Chief for the Northfield Village Fire Dept. in the 1960’s and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 42 years of service. He spent 27 of those years in the Terminal Tower and 15 years in Gemini Tower in Westlake.  Friends will be received 4-8 PM Friday and from 10 – 10:30 AM Saturday at JOHNSON-ROMITO FUNERAL HOME, 99 West Aurora Road (One Mile West of Rt. 8), Northfield Center, OH (330) 468-1443.
