Obituary: John W. Kohl Jr.

John W. Kohl Jr., 1961-2022; age 60, of Stow, peacefully passed away after a long-fought battle to kidney failure early Sunday morning May 15, 2022, with his wife of 28 years, Cheri, and their three daughters at his side. John was born on September 22nd, 1961, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He was proceeded in death by his Father John Kohl Sr., Mother Kathy Kohl, and sister Jami. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his wife Cherisse (nee Pietrocini) Kohl, daughters Katie, Brittney, and Kirsten; brother David (Cathy) Kohl and Renee Kohl; many brother and sister-in-laws, several nieces, nephews and cousins. John was raised in Hudson, where he graduated from Hudson High School in 1980 and spent many years until moving to become a resident of Stow in 2002 where he raised his family. John had a fierce loyalty to his family, his hometown, his Cleveland sports teams, the Buckeyes, and his country. He loved to travel south with his family, spend time with his friends, he enjoyed camping and never met an environment unfit for a nap. John’s true passion was cooking; he would happily serve and feed numerous people for most any occasion and often dreamed of someday wanting to open his own restaurant. He was a “what you see is what you get” type of guy. Seldom did he feel the need to have to impress anyone; he was happy to tell you what was on his mind, he was stubborn and convicted in his beliefs, yet he was a servant through and through. John had a high work ethic and was always busy working on something. At any time, John was willingly serving his friends, family, or neighbors around the community with any task big or small that needed done. While John’s time with us has been cut short, he is now at rest, his legacy lives on and he will be forever missed. Cheers Johnny – we know you’re doing the glory dance in eternity with a new body and in the company of all our loved ones who have gone before us.
