Joseph Patrick Lukes 1934-2021Â
age 86, On Monday February 10, 2021 Joseph was reunited in heaven with his wife Josephine Lukes of 66 years, son Gary and his Mother. He passed away surrounded by the love of his three remaining children.Â
Joseph is the cherished father of Craig (Tere), Dawn Gilday (Joe), Joe (Patti) and the late Gary; Loving Grandfather to Nikki, Mary Grace (Anthony), Brendan, Sean, Katelyn, Joey, Christopher and Danielle; Treasured Great-Grandfather of Clayton, James and Lina.Â
Joe was born on March 17, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio and was raised by his Mother, who he loved dearly. In 1953 he married his childhood sweetheart Josephine and together they raised four children. Joe loved building things. From his house on Walton Rd to cottages on Kelleys Island, his hands built the places that brought everyone together. Joe and Josephine were the best at creating moments for all they loved—their door was always open and their house always full.Â
Through his life, Joe wore many hats to care for his family. He was an experienced carpenter, banker, salesman and was proud to still hold an active realtor’s license. Joe loved spending time at his cottage on Kelleys Island with family and friends, fishing, tinkering in his garages, planning a new project, watching movies, telling jokes, celebrating his St. Paddy’s day birthday, family dinners and especially his wife Josephine’s pasta. Joe made it his life to be the rock for his family. He was always there and never stopped building a better life for those he loved. He will be forever missed, but his love will forever be here.Â
