Paul Eugene Plazek, a long-time resident of Macedonia, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, in Medina at the age of 88 years old. He was born to Edward and Florence Plazek in Sankertown (Cresson), Pennsylvania on November 28, 1936. Paul graduated from Cresson Joint High School in 1957 and moved out to Ohio the next day to work for The Ford Motor Company Walton Hills Stamping Plant. He worked at Ford for 37 years before taking early retirement. Being a humble servant of the Lord, Paul asked God to give him just one good year to enjoy life after retirement. In return, he was given 30 years. He shared his time, talent, and financial support within the church community of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Macedonia for nearly 50 years. Paul joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed model railroading, camping, fishing, hunting, metal detecting/treasure hunting, taking summer family vacations, photography, going downtown to the Cleveland Indians games, traveling with his wife to Ohio’s Amish Country and taking bus trips.
Around the house, Paul spent many hours vegetable gardening, growing daylilies as well as a variety of fruits, working on home improvement projects, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, eating sweets, co-hosting annual garden parties with his wife, and telling stories about him and his brother Ed’s fishing adventures. He was a quiet, patient man, and his favorite place was at home spending time with his family. Paul was blessed with many talents, including oil painting and woodcarving. He shared his passion for art with his oldest grandson, Jakob, and would spend hours drawing with him. He was affectionately known as “Pops” and “Pappy” to those who knew him best. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Sylvester Burket, Margaret (nee Decker) Burket, and Margaret (Brawley) Burket, brothers Howard and Edgar, sister Velma Cossaboon, nieces Joanne Lehman and Cindy Cossaboon, and his newborn granddaughter, Angelica Gianna Miller. He is survived by his loving wife and caretaker of 52 years, Barbara (nee Burket), son Raymond (Colleen), daughter Regina Paulette (Randy), grandchildren: Jakob, Nathaniel, Abigail, and Joshua Paul Miller, and Sarah Plazek, siblings: Ronald, Marlene Ewing, Sylvia Lee (Bill), Leonard, and Carol, nieces, nephews, a large extended family, and his beloved Chenook neighbors who he knew for many years.
