Obituary: Roger W. Huml

Roger W. Huml, 79, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2021. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 11, 1941, to Jim and Evelyn Huml. He graduated from John Adams High School where he played in the band, as well as the All City Band and the Ohio State Fair band. He attended Case institute of Technology while awaiting his Congressional appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. After 4 years there, he served in the Navy Reserves. He received his B.A. from Hiram College.   Most of his career was spent as an instrumentation engineer with B. F. Goodrich. He was a 50 year member of Summit Lodge #213, F & AM and served as its Master in 1977-78. As a longtime Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 882, he was most proud of the 12 young men that became Eagle Scouts during his tenure. He enjoyed playing golf, especially with his brother-in-law Bill, but his real love was fishing in Lake Erie or near son Dave’s Minnesota cabin where he finally caught a trophy fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol, brothers-in-law Bill Lovell and Joe Main and sister-in-law Betty Jo Main. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia (Jinny); sons Brian (Tonya), Dave, and Joe (Sue) and grandchildren Jack, Charlie, Abby, Connor, Maddy and Lauren. Friends may call at THE FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 W. AURORA RD. (OH RTE 82), SAGAMORE HILLS where Masonic and funeral services will be held THURSDAY 7P.M.  MEMORIAL VISITATION THURSDAY 5 P.M.
