Steven J. Ward, age 73, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 12, 2021. Steve is survived by his beloved wife Alice (nee Morrissey) and cherished children Bobbi, Jonathan, and Traci. He was a trusted son of the late Dorothy “Dot” (nee Deery) and Robert “Bob”; treasured brother of Susan Hamilton (Don), Bruce (the late Carolyn), Pat Ward-Schumann (the late Larry), and Elly Yoose (the late Mickey); Dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.Steve was born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, on June 2, 1948. At an early age, it was clear, Steve’s devil may care personality, pension for trouble, and free bird heart would take him far. No one who met Steve will forget his infectious passion for anything he did, his dedicated work ethic, bold personality, or the expert way he retold his most cherished stories of the journeys he took in life. He will be remembered for his teasing jokes, quick wit, wildly entertaining personality, big heart, and the love he had for his family. In his 73 years on earth, Steve poured his heart into anything he did. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, was a skilled railroader whose career spanned over four decades, was a passionate hobbyist for harness racing in his youth that evolved to a dedicated spectator later in life, but, most of all, he was a family man. On April 11th, 1981, Steve married his loving wife Alice, who he had said over the years “was the best thing that ever happened to him.” Together they built a beautiful life for their three children, and what they couldn’t provide in tangible goods they provided in immense love and limitless memories. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Steven’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://tinyurl.com/
