Obituary: Thomas R. Hogarth, Sr.

Thomas R. Hogarth, Sr. age 90 of Macedonia Ohio passed away Friday September 30, 2022.  Beloved husband of 68 years to Joyce (Selig).

Loving father of Thomas Jr., Nancy Zmarzly (Tony) and Carol Williams. Cherished Grandfather of Krystal Canzoni (Jason) , Ashley Gomula (Nicholas), Kelly Zmarzly (Christopher Herrera), Kevin Williams, Kyle Williams, Thomas Hogarth III (Kellie) , Shannon Hogarth and John Hogarth.  Dearest Great-Grandfather of Dominik, Dylan, Collin and Kylee Canzoni, Aubrey and McKenzie Gomula, Christopher Herrera Jr and Karmen Herrera.

Preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.  Thomas was a U.S Army Korean War Veteran.

He owned and operated four businesses throughout his life.   Two gas stations, Hogarth’s Towing Service where he serviced the areas of Macedonia, Twinsburg, Sherriff Post and the Ohio Turnpike and last Hogarth’s Radiator Service.  All located in Twinsburg Ohio. He loved planting many flowers in front of Hogarth’s Radiator Service, which won him Best Landscaping award for the City of Twinsburg.  He served on the Macedonia Civil Service Commission for 17 years.  Tom Hogarth was one of the founders and President of Nifty Fifties Car Club of Northern Ohio.

He enjoyed investing in real estate owning several buildings and homes throughout his life.

He loved motorcycles.  He drove midgets and raced stock cars at the Sportsman Park.   After retirement he drove a race car at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Michigan Speedway and Daytona Motor Speedway.  He even took flying lessons.  He then became an accomplished woodworker who enjoyed making salt and pepper mills, wine stoppers and Holiday decorations. Some of his decorations are displayed at Holiday times at Macedonia City Hall and Twinsburg Library.  He also enjoyed gifting things he made to many people.

He will be greatly missed by family and many friends.
