WILLIAM “BILL” A. BRADY, age 91, passed away March 25, 2020.

Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty (nee Dow); children, Douglas (Karyn), Shaun (Terri East), Kathleen Raber (Roy), Kerry (Christopher Hofer-Brady); grandchildren, Mychal and Madison; brother, James; sister-in-law, Marge Brady; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by all of the following: his parents, John and Mary (nee Dier); siblings, Mary Stephens (Jerry), Eileen, John (Beverly), Jean, Thomas (Janis), Margaret Boesch (Charles) and Agnes.

Born in Cleveland, Bill graduated from North Royalton High School Class of 1947 and Kent State University with a Master of Education. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a teacher from Kent City Schools.

Bill taught for over 35 years with a genuine love for influencing children and teens. He tutored several students on the side and often worked two or three jobs during school breaks. He was friendly beyond words, always leaving a room more cheerful than it was before. Bill’s sense of humor was legendary, and he was known for the occasional prank. He treated everyone with incredible kindness, especially his family. His motto was God, country, family and friends.

Bill was proud of his military service and glad that he traveled the world, but he said none of that compared to the joys of being a husband and father. For Bill, his family always came first and no matter what was happening with him, his main concern has always been Betty.

As outgoing as he was in public, Bill was actually a private person who enjoyed poetry, writing, and a deep Christian faith. An avid reader, he could spend hours researching history, government, political science and other topics of interest and in later years he offered his beloved books to any visitor.

Bill had an incredibly thankful heart and thanked everyone who helped him as his health declined. He will be deeply missed, but his wonderful kindness and love will live on in his children and grandchildren.

Public services including memorial visitation, Mass of Christian Burial and burial with military honors will be announced at a later date.
