William R. Hockenberry Jr., age 94, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at his home. Born June 29, 1928 in Yatesboro, PA. He was a Korean War veteran who served in the Army as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division. William retired in 1992 from Chrysler Corporation where he worked for 27 years as a Tool and Die Manager at the Twinsburg Stamping Plant.
He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams (Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Cavaliers) with family and friends. He loved making lots of money at the slot machines at the local casino. William was an avid golfer who looked forward to his league play with the guys at Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club in Hudson.
William was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann (nee Chobody), brothers Harold, Dale, Don and sisters Audra and Rita. He is survived by sons, William R. Hockenberry III of Randolph, OH, Robert Hockenberry of Euless, TX and Joseph Hockenberry (with whom he made his home) of Northfield Center, OH, grandson Robert Hockenberry Jr. and great-grandson Reese Hockenberry, both of Euless, TX; and sister Nancy Krecota and brother Chester Hockenberry, both of Rural Valley, PA.
To honor William’s service to his country, his family encourages donations to any veterans group in your local community.
A private graveside service will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
