Ohio Department of Health Classifies Summit County as Level 3 Public Emergency; Facial Coverings Now Mandatory

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—On Thursday, July 9, 2020, the Ohio Department of Health changed Summit County’s Public Emergency designation from Level 2 to Level 3. This designation indicates Summit County is currently experiencing very high exposure and spread of COVID-19.

In accordance with the State Health Director’s Order issued on July 8, 2020, facial coverings are now required in any indoor location that is not a residence, when outdoors and unable to maintain a distance of six feet or more from individuals who are not members of the same household, and when waiting for, riding, driving or operating public transportation, a taxi, a private care service or a ride sharing vehicle. Mandatory facial coverings are not required for children under 10 years of age and individuals with a medical condition preventing use of a facial covering, or in other circumstances described in the order. The state issued mandatory facial coverings order will be effective July 10, 2020 at 6 p.m. and remain in place until Summit County’s Public Emergency designation is downgraded.

In addition to complying with the mandatory facial coverings order, Summit County residents are strongly urged to decrease in-person interactions with others, consider necessary travel only, limit attending gatherings of any number and follow all other current health orders.
