This is a new series of articles about the people that live or work in this area. We asked them how the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak has affected their job and/or family, what they would do different when we get back to a “new normal” and what has surprised them about the unprecedented global crisis.

See other articles in the series here.

  1. The virus has affected my family and I in several different ways. My husband is still working. The schools are closed so that means I am not working and my daughter is not going to school. I am teaching her at home which has actually been fun. But it stinks because all of our activities that we do are all canceled until who knows when this is over. So it is definitely stressful without some of that stuff going on.
  2. Things that I will change when we get back to normal whenever that may be is definitely not taking stuff for granted. For example toilet paper, Lysol wipes, and hand sanitizer. I really miss spending time with my family and friends we have not been able to do that for three weeks now and that is very hard because I am a very social person.
  3. Right now I am very surprised how many pictures I see on social media people still hanging out with family that does not live in their home. I have not seen my family in over three weeks so I am making that sacrifice and I think other people should be doing that too – that’s my opinion. I’m used to going to Target several times a week. I have not been in Target in three weeks that is definitely hard. There are some people that I think that are living their life day today like none of this is a serious situation. But after watching the governor every day at 2 o’clock you can totally see that this is a serious situation. I am praying every day this clears up soon and we can get back to the normal life.
