Money Taken After Call From Bank:
A man told police on January 5, that at least $1,000 had been taken from his bank account after he received a call from a person alleging to be an employee of the man’s bank and a series of strange texts. The man told police he received a telephone call from a number that he recognized to be his bank. The person on the other line knew the man’s personal information, according to the police report. The man told police he talked with the caller for just over 25 minutes. After the call, the man received eight texts from the same telephone number containing numeric “codes.” The man also received a telephone call from a second individual who told the man a woman in Wisconsin was using the man’s bank account information. The man later called the number which was to a Florida bank. The man found $1,000 had been withdrawn from his account according to the report. Police are investigating.
