Police suspect drugs may have been the cause of a December 2 incident where a driver crashed into a home shortly before 3:30 a.m. at the 8400 block of Valley View Drive.
The two residents of the home were not injured, according to police. However, the driver was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries after his vehicle left the road, drove across a lawn, and hit the east side of the home with enough force to crack and bow an interior wall, according to police.
Police arrived and found the driver had passed out and slumped over the wheel of the vehicle. The vehicle was still in drive, according to police.
After the man was removed from the vehicle an officer entered the car to engage park and observed “a long black metal pipe in the cup holder in plain view,” according to the police report. The officer also observed a copper scrubbing pad which could be used to smoke methamphetamine. The officer also found a grinder in the dash of the vehicle.
According to police the driver allegedly admitted to using drugs earlier that evening.
The driver was charged with Operating While Intoxicated a first-degree misdemeanor, Drug Paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, a minor misdemeanor and Operation Without Reasonable Control.
A damage estimate was not listed in the report.
