Man arrested on gun charges while asleep in fast food line:
A man was arrested and charged on March 8 with two gun violations and operating a vehicle while under the influence after police found him asleep behind the wheel of his running car in the drive-through line at an East Aurora Road fast food restaurant. Police were called to the restaurant shortly after 11 p.m. The sleeping man’s car was still in drive and his foot was on the brake, according to police. Police also found the man had an expired concealed-carry permit. Police awoke the man and asked him to shift the car to park. He was unable to comply, according to the report. An officer was able to reach into the passenger’s side and turn the car off. Police noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the man, according to the report. The man’s speech was slurred and he told police he was in Twinsburg, according to the report. Police also noticed a bulge in the man’s front hoodie pocket. The man told police he had a gun and reached for the center console. Police ordered the man to stop. He complied. Police asked the man if the weapon was in the hoodie. “I don’t know it might be,” he answered as he reached towards his pocket. Police ordered the man to stop and escorted him from the vehicle, according to the report. Once out of the vehicle police found a firearm in the hoodie pocket. The man refused a field sobriety test, according to the report. The firearm was a Sig Sauer P365 loaded with a magazine containing 12 rounds. The man was charged with Improper Handling Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, a fourth degree felony, Using Weapons while Intoxicated a first degree misdemeanor, and OVI.

Shoplifting
Chicken gets man banned from store:
A man was banned from a Macedonia Commons store on March 8 after employees said he ordered a chicken in the store’s deli department but did not pay for it. Police arrived at the store shortly after 3:30 p.m. and stopped the man as he was backing out of a parking spot. Employees alleged the man ate the chicken while walking through the store, according to police. The man was alleged to have done eaten the same meal, without payment, twice before, according to the report. The chicken was valued at $3.70. The man was charged with theft and banned from all affiliated stores.

Criminal mischief
Possible pry marks found on sunroof:
A man told police on March 3 that he believed someone unsuccessfully attempted to break into his car because a hole was found in the sunroof of his 2008 Hyundai. There were also what appeared to be pry marks near the driver’s side of the sunroof molding. The man told police there was nothing of value inside the vehicle and he believed it was random. A damage estimate was not given. Police are checking area surveillance cameras.

Telephone harassment/communication menacing
Instagram communication goes awry:
A man told police his daughter was approached on Instagram by a person who wanted to create a mural of her image. The person offered to pay the daughter $4,500. The daughter agreed and received an email check for the amount. After the daughter deposited the check the person requested $500 of the check be returned, according to the report. The daughter refused in case the check bounced or was a scam, according to the report. The daughter also received telephone calls, emails, and texts “threatening to harm her,” if the $500 is not received. While taking a report, the person called, and an officer answered the daughter’s telephone. The person declined to give the officer his name, location, or telephone number. The officer told the man to stop calling and harassing the daughter. After talking to the officer several emails used by the caller were blocked, by the caller. It was unknown if the check bounced.
