POLICE: Village of Northfield Police Reports – January

AMPHETAMINE-POSSESS On 01/01/2020, at approximately 2233 hours, Northfield Village Officers were conducting a business check of the MGM Casino 10777 Northfield Rd. when we observed a male, who had warrants for his arrest. The identify of the male was confirmed and the warrants were confirmed. While conducting a search incident to arrest, a baggie of Methamphetamine and Mushrooms were located in his front coin pocket. He was arrested on drug possession charges.

BAGGIE FOUND

On 01/03/2019 at 2027 hours, NVPD officers responded to MGM Northfield Park in regards to a employee finding a baggie which they assumed contained drugs. We then spoke to the manager on duty in the supervisor office. In speaking to Manger on duty, she stated that one of her VLT managers turned in a clear plastic baggie containing (14) white, round tablets that appeared to be chalky in texture. On said baggie, it was observed to be imprinted with a DM-BB-006 label. No identifying numbers/letters were observed on the tablet itself. At this time, Its unclear what the tablet could be.

In further speaking with the manager, she stated the baggie was found in the VLT employee locker. Said locker is utilized to hold the VLT employee’s personal items when they’re working the floor. The manager stated that the baggie couldn’t been put in the locker as far back at December 27, 2019 and would be difficult to pinpoint the employee who placed it in the locker. This is due to multiple employee’s utilizing the locker since that date.

At this time, said drug related items will be confiscated and be entered into evidence. The manager requested no further assistance from NVPD.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE-KNOWINGLY PHYSICAL HARM

On January 6th, 2020 at 2151 Hrs. Officers responded to a domestic that occurred in the parking lot of Circle K, 10216 Northfield Rd.  The caller was a witness who stated a male was beating up a female in a blue sedan at pump number 7.

Upon arrival, Officers saw a male walk from the store and get into drivers seat and a female in the passenger seat. The female had a laceration above her left eye. The fire department was toned out for the female and the female declined.

The male party was arrested for Domestic Violence and brought back to the NVPD for booking. The female was transported to the MGM where she got on the RTA bus. The male was transported to Macedonia Jail waiting arraignment for Stow Municipal. The vehicle was impounded with interstate towing.

AMPHETAMINE-POSSESS

A traffic stop was conducted on the Defendant’s vehicle for traffic violations. A K9 sniff and a subsequent search was conducted. The driver was found in possession of suspected narcotics and placed under arrest. His vehicle was towed by Interstate towing and her was later transported to the Summit county jail to await court.

AMPHETAMINE-POSSESS 

On 01/16/2020, at approximately 0417 hours, I Ptl. Wilson #810, was checking on a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the MGM Casino. I observed a female in the passenger seat of a Dodge Ram pick up truck with foggy window, and the license plate came back to a Mercedes Benz car. Upon making contact with the passenger, I smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted and drugs were found inside the vehicle. The female was placed under arrest for possession of drugs.

FORGERY

On 01/22/2020, at approximately 1248 hours, 1 Ptl. Wilson #810, took a report on station in reference to fraud and theft. R/P states he is a horse owner and leases his horses to a husband and wife who races the horses. R/P alleges that the lease agreement ended in December of 2019 and that they drafted a new lease agreement, without his authorization and forged his signature, and submitted the agreement to the Racing Commission. An investigation was started.

On 01/24/2020, an agreement was made between both parties to exchange the horses. At this time case will be closed.

VANDALISM OF PROPERTY  

On January 9, 2019 I responded to the Lincoln Apartments (9255) Lincoln Drive for a report of property damage done to the community dryer. I was met by Duane Brown, an employee for CSC Service Works, the company that owns the washer and dryers. He took me to the dryer and showed me the damage, where the top of the dryer which holds the money to use it is held. An investigation was begun.

THEFT-ALL OTHER LARCENY TYPES On January 28, 2020 officers were called to Northfield Retirement Facility to take a report of theft. A resident there states that he came there with $35 and 6 Percocet pills and all his money and his pills were missing. The nurse manager told officers that she was told that the resident noticed this sometime last week and did not want to report, then suddenly yesterday he wanted to report it.

DISTURBANCE On January 27, 2020 at 0215 HRS Officers were dispatched to the Sunset Motel, 10255 Northfield Rd, room 56 for a disturbance. A female caller stated her boyfriend hit and choked her. 
When Officers arrived on scene the female answered the door stating her boyfriend left walking and she pointed towards the north side of the building. Sgt. Olesinski found the male walking on Northfield Rd and Ptl. Caporossi spoke to the female.

During the investigation, the female stated that the male never hit her or choked her but did pull her by her shirt when she was throwing his belongings out of the room. No signs of injuries and both parties declined being seen by the squad. 

At this time no Domestic Violence charges were generated and both parties were separated for the night.
