County Executive Shapiro announces “Rainy Days & Rescue Strays!”

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—April Showers bring May Flowers…and maybe even a furry friend to keep you company through these rainy spring days! No matter what the weather, the dogs at Summit County Animal Control are ready to find their forever families. To make sure you can enjoy these rainy days the right way, County Executive Shapiro is reducing adoption costs for dogs starting April 1 through May 3 for the “Rainy Days & Rescue Strays” adoption promotion event.

During the adoption event, costs to adopt a dog will be reduced to $28 (regularly $94). All dogs are microchipped, fully vetted (including bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay or neuter, and vaccinations) and ready to be taken home. All new owners will also receive a 2026 Summit County Dog License included in the adoption cost.

Residents can call 330-643-2845 to schedule an appointment or visit the facility during business hours. To browse pictures of adoptable pets, visit Summit County Animal Control’s Facebook or website.
