COLUMBUS—State Rep. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) hosted his first official town hall event in Macedonia, Ohio this month, where he met with area residents to discuss some of the issues important to them and their families. You can watch the video here on Facebook.
“As a state representative, my job is to be a voice for the 37th District, and there’s no better way to find that voice than to listen to the thoughts and concerns of my constituents,” said Weinstein. “People are concerned about the direction things are going, and with the introduction of a new state budget just a few weeks out, we have a real opportunity to begin addressing some of these priorities.”
The town hall was attended by area elected officials and residents from around the district, including Macedonia Mayor Nick Molnar, who raised concerns about recent state budget cuts to local governments, saying, “It’s no secret that cutting local funding has caused problems for us, forcing us to make some tough choices when budgeting essential services, road repairs and all that goes into keeping our community up to par. Getting some of that back would be huge.”
In addition, constituents voiced concerns over school funding, infrastructure investments and lingering questions about jobs and the economy.
“The truth is that we need to see a shift in priorities at the Statehouse,” added Weinstein. “I am pleased that, so far, my colleagues on both sides of the aisle seem eager to work together on the issues that matter most to working families in our state. I’m excited to get to work.”
Rep. Weinstein’s next town hall is scheduled for April 18. More details are to come. Town halls are free and open to the public.
