COLUMBUS—State Reps. Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) and Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) sent additional public records requests to the offices of Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. John Husted requesting all relevant information regarding any meetings, emails, text messages, etc. related to their knowledge of the Ohio Power Siting Board – Icebreaker Wind Project and the involvement of former Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) Chairman Sam Randazzo.
“Ohioans are still paying the price for the corruption behind HB 6, to the tune of $10,000 EVERY HOUR,” said Rep. Weinstein. “We need answers from Governor DeWine and everyone involved in this historic scandal, and I will be relentless until we get them.”
“We continue to hold the DeWine/Husted administration accountable for their involvement in this corruption. Sam Randazzo tried to kill a renewable energy project in Northeast Ohio last year that would have a $250 million economic impact. The public deserves to know to what extent the DeWine/Husted administration was operating behind the scenes at First Energy’s urging,” said Rep. Crossman.
Reps. Crossman and Weinstein previously sent Gov. DeWine two public records requests several weeks ago which have not yet been answered. The first requested all communications between Sam Randazzo and Laurel Dawson related, in any way, to Sam Randazzo’s candidacy for appointment to the chairmanship of PUCO beginning from January 1, 2018 through the date of his confirmation as PUCO chair. The second requested all communications between Sam Randazzo and Laurel Dawson related to Sam Randazzo’s receipt of a payment of approximately $4 million from First Energy prior to his appointment as PUCO chair.
