The Rotary Club of Nordonia Hills partnered with other community groups in 2015 to build a permanent Safety Town facility at Rushwood Elementary School. The partnership between these organizations in our community included the Rotary Club of Nordonia Hills, Nordonia Hills City Schools, Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, Nordonia Hills YMCA, and Nordonia Hills Preschool Parents. Working together, we were able to complete a very successful project. Annually, the Safety Town Program serves over 100 children who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall. Phase I of the project was dedicated on August 2, 2016 and has been used by the students in the Safety Town Program for the last five years. Phase II of the project was completed in 2017, which included the addition of a water tower and flagpole. At this time, the Rotary Club is in the process of making improvements to the facility because many of the signs have been damaged by various components of the weather. Improvements that are currently underway are new storefronts, street signs and directional signs. Additional beautification features will also be put in place next spring. If you or your business currently has a storefront and have not been contacted by a member of the Rotary Club, or if you are interested in a new lease to advertise your business, please contact Bill Klingenberg at 216-440-0265. Join us as we look forward to an improved Safety Town facility for the 2021 program year.
