Police respond to fraud cases, mental health crisis, and traffic violations
Sagamore Hills Police Department handled several significant incidents during the final week of July, ranging from fraud reports to a mental health emergency and multiple arrests.
Fraud
Police received three separate fraud reports within days of each other. On July 23, a resident on Ballantrae Drive reported being victimized in a $1,000 fraud scheme. Two additional fraud cases were filed later in the week – one at Canyon View Road and another on S Gannett Road involving check fraud.
Mental Health Emergency
Officers responded to a suicide attempt on July 24 at Rehwinkle Road, where a female had taken an overdose of pills. The incident involved a 63-year-old woman and a 14-year-old who were both transported for medical attention.
Pool Harassment Incident
A teenage lifeguard at the Greenwood Village Community Association reported an incident of voyeurism on July 27. The victim stated that an unknown male made inappropriate sexual advances and lewd comments while she was working at the community pool. The suspect did not stop when asked to leave her alone.
Domestic Dispute Leads to Arrest
On July 25, police arrested a man from Avon Lake on aggravated menacing charges after he allegedly drove past his ex-girlfriend’s residence on Arboretum Circle in what she believed was intimidating behavior.
Traffic Stop Results in Multiple Charges
During a July 29 traffic stop at Spring Creek Road and Boyden Road, police arrested Anthony F. Rocco of S Gannett Road on charges of aggravated menacing, obstructing official business, and disorderly conduct. The charges stemmed from his behavior as a passenger during the traffic stop.
All incidents have been documented and are under investigation by the Sagamore Hills Police Department.
