Knife discovered at Lawrence School Oct. 29

Officers responded to Lawrence School on Olde Eight Road after a teacher discovered a knife with a white handle on her personal vehicle in the school parking lot. The incident occurred between 3:51 p.m. and 4:51 p.m. The knife was collected as evidence and the incident remains under investigation.

Package theft reported on Eaton Drive Oct. 29-31

A resident on Eaton Drive reported the theft of multiple packages delivered to their home. The stolen items included ammunition (500 rounds of Federal .223 55-grain full metal jacket valued at $253, and 1,000 rounds of Blazer 9mm 115-grain full metal jacket valued at $229.99) and two dog sweaters. The theft occurred sometime between Oct. 29 at 4:55 p.m. and Oct. 31 at 3:58 p.m.

Driver arrested for OVI, bribery following traffic stop Nov. 1

A driver was arrested on multiple charges after failing to use a turn signal while entering Highpoint Plaza from West Aurora Road around 9:36 p.m. During the traffic stop, officers observed signs of impairment including a strong odor of alcohol, slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes and that the driver had urinated on himself. The driver attempted to bribe officers to release him without charges. He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OVI refusal with prior conviction, bribery, improper display of license plates, and failure to use turn signals. He was transported to Summit County Jail.

Traffic stop leads to drug paraphernalia discovery Nov. 3

Officers stopped a vehicle on Olde Eight Road around 12:44 a.m. after the driver failed to dim high beams when approaching another vehicle. The driver, who exited the vehicle near a laundromat, was ordered back into the car. The driver did not have a valid license. The vehicle owner, who was a passenger, gave officers permission to search the vehicle. Officers discovered two spoons with residue in the driver’s door, which were seized as evidence. The driver was cited for failure to reinstate their license and received a written warning for improper use of headlight beams. The owner received a written warning for wrongful entrustment of a motor vehicle.
