Identity Fraud Case Filed at Police Station
A resident filed an identity fraud report at the police station on May 6. The on-station report was taken and processed. The case was cleared within approximately ten minutes of the initial report.
Unwanted Guest Call Leads to Arrest
On the evening of May 6, police responded to a disturbance call on Chaffee Road involving an unwanted guest. During the incident, they encountered a Michigan resident who was subsequently arrested on warrant charges. The situation was resolved and cleared within an hour of the officers’ arrival.
Drug Paraphernalia Found During Welfare Check
Police conducted a welfare check at a retail store on W. Aurora Road on May 8. During their interaction, they discovered and seized multiple drug-related items including glass pipes, a butane torch, and substances believed to be illegal drugs. The confiscated items included what was described as a “clear bag with white crystal substance” and pills. The case was processed as a drug paraphernalia and drug abuse incident.
Hit-Skip Accident at Sagamore Park
A private property hit-skip accident was reported at Sagamore Park on Valley View Road on May 8. Police responded to the scene where they documented paint chips from what appeared to be a Chevrolet Avalanche. The vehicle’s owner was identified but not named in the report as no arrest was made.
School Bus Violation Addressed Through Education
Police investigated a school bus violation that occurred on May 6 on W. Aurora Road. A driver reportedly went around a Nordonia Hills school bus that had activated amber lights. The bus driver provided vehicle information to police, who later contacted the driver. According to the report, the driver told police “he thought he was able to go around the bus when the amber lights were on, like an Amazon vehicle.” The driver was educated about traffic laws and proper procedures around school buses.
OVI Arrest Following Valley View Road Crash
Police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Valley View Road and Wood Hollow Road on May 9. Upon investigation, a Garfield Heights resident was arrested and charged with OVI (operating a vehicle impaired), driving on a 12-point suspension, and lane violations.
