Local officers responded to a series of traffic-related incidents and other calls for service between Nov. 7 and Nov. 10, including an OVI arrest, suspected drug possession, crashes and animal complaints.
OVI Arrest Follows Traffic Stop
A 35-year-old North Royalton man was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence following a late-night traffic stop on Canal Road near Valley View Road.
The driver was stopped around 11:24 p.m. Nov. 8 and cited for OVI, speeding and driving in marked lanes. A passenger, also from North Royalton, was in the vehicle at the time. The incident was cleared at 1:50 a.m. Nov. 9.
Drug Possession During Traffic Stop
A separate traffic stop on Sagamore Road led to a suspected drug seizure late Nov. 9.
Officers stopped a vehicle around 11:50 p.m. driven by a 29-year-old Northfield woman with a 29-year-old Northfield man as a passenger. During the stop, police reported finding a half-cut clear plastic straw and containers holding tan rock and powder substances, each weighing approximately 11 grams. The substances are suspected to be heroin and fentanyl.
The incident was cleared at 12:44 a.m. Nov. 10.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
Injury Crash Near Brandywine
Officers responded to a three-vehicle injury crash on West Highland Road near the Brandywine ski resort around 4:04 p.m. Nov. 7.
Drivers from Sagamore Hills and Akron were among those involved. Details on injuries were not provided, but the scene was cleared at 6:52 p.m.
Vehicle Strikes Deer
A Youngstown man escaped injury after his vehicle struck a deer on Valley View Road around 6:25 p.m. Nov. 10.
Officers responded and dispatched the injured deer. The incident was cleared at 6:49 p.m.
Other Incidents
Injured Opossum Response
Police also handled an animal complaint involving an injured opossum on Brandywine Road around 10:56 p.m. Nov. 7.
Officers responded to the scene, and the call was cleared at 11:01 p.m.
Harassment Report
Officers took a harassment report at a Smithfield Drive residence Nov. 10.
A 39-year-old Sagamore Hills woman reported harassment involving a 69-year-old Brecksville man. The incidents were reported to have occurred between Nov. 8 and Nov. 10. The case was cleared at 6:31 p.m.
