Delivery Truck Damages Cable Lines on N Gannett Road

A delivery truck tore down two Spectrum cable lines at two separate addresses on N Gannett Road on Sept. 29. Officers responded to the scene around 12:03 p.m. after receiving reports of the damage. The incident occurred in the northern zone of Sagamore Hills and was cleared by 12:20 p.m. The driver of a 2023 white Freightliner with Ohio commercial plates was involved in the incident.

Police Cruiser Damaged During Wash at MGM Location

Sagamore Hills police vehicle number 612, a 2024 black Dodge Durango, sustained damage while being washed at the MGM Casino Rewards Car Wash on Northfield Road in Northfield Village on Oct. 2. Officers documented the damage after utilizing the car wash facility around 6:54 p.m. The incident occurred at the gas station location and was cleared by 7:09 p.m.

Property Damage Investigation on Nesbitt Road

Officers responded to a property damage complaint on Nesbitt Road on Oct. 5 around 6:02 p.m. An officer investigated the incident at a residential home and cleared the scene by 6:29 p.m.

Custody Dispute Brings Multiple Parties to Police Station

Three individuals walked into the Sagamore Hills Police Department on Valley View Road on Oct. 3 to address a custody dispute. Officers documented the civil matter involving parties from both Sagamore Hills and Brecksville. The incident, which began around 7:15 p.m., was resolved by 8:11 p.m. with all parties advised on the matter.

Officers Assist Northfield Village During Chaotic Traffic Stop

Sagamore Hills officers provided crucial mutual aid to Northfield Village Police during a volatile traffic stop at the Circle K on Northfield Road early Oct. 4. Officers responded around 1:01 a.m. after Northfield Village officers requested assistance during an OVI investigation.

The situation escalated when the driver being investigated for OVI began actively fighting with Northfield Village officers. While officers were engaged with the combative driver, another person inside the vehicle jumped into the driver’s seat and attempted to flee the scene. An officer activated emergency lights and conducted a public safety traffic stop on the vehicle in the parking lot, successfully detaining the second driver. An Akron resident was involved in the original OVI stop. The incident was documented by Sagamore Hills as mutual aid and cleared by 2 a.m.

OVI Arrest

Erratic Driver Arrested After Nearly Striking Telephone Pole, Guard Rail

A Brecksville driver faces multiple charges including felony OVI after officers observed dangerously erratic driving on State Route 82 on Oct. 4. The arrest occurred near the intersection of Chaffee Road and W Aurora Road around 11:35 p.m.

Officers responded after a concerned pickup truck driver flagged down police at the Quick Check near State Route 82 and N Boyden Road. The witness reported that a silver sedan traveling westbound on State Route 82 had nearly struck a telephone pole and was unable to maintain its lane.

An officer followed the vehicle and observed the driver cross over the solid white fog line multiple times. The driver nearly struck a guard rail just before the Route 82 bridge, prompting officers to conduct a traffic stop. The driver was offered standardized field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested for OVI.

The driver, operating a 2009 silver Toyota Camry with Ohio plates, was charged with OVI (drugs or alcohol), OVI refusal with prior OVI conviction within 20 years, driving outside marked lanes and failure to reinstate license. The driver was transported and the incident was cleared by 12:15 a.m. Oct. 5. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
