Sagamore Hills Police Reports: Vehicle Crashes into Pizzeria, Mini-Bikes Flee from Traffic Stop and Domestic Disputes

Traffic and Vehicle Incidents

Teen Driver Cited in Two-Vehicle Crash — Oct. 8

A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 82 and North Boyden Road resulted in multiple citations. Officers determined a 15-year-old female was operating one vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The juvenile driver received citations for failure to yield to oncoming traffic when turning left and operating without a valid license. A passenger in the vehicle, a 19-year-old male, was cited for wrongful entrustment of a motor vehicle and received a summons for obstruction of justice.

Mini-Bikes Flee from Traffic Stop Attempt — Oct. 17

Officers observed three mini-bikes traveling on Chaffee Road near State Route 82 on the evening of Oct. 17. Two of the vehicles were operating without lights, and all three riders were wearing dark clothing. When officers activated emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop, the riders continued down Chaffee Road, ran a stop sign while turning onto State Route 82, and proceeded down Pine Hill Drive before going around an access gate. Officers terminated the pursuit and searched the area but were unable to locate the bikes or riders.

Traffic Stop Results in OVI-Related Charges — Oct. 15

A traffic stop conducted near a residence on South Gannett Road in the early morning hours resulted in the arrest of a motorist on multiple charges. During the incident, an individual unrelated to the initial stop approached officers and allegedly made threats before leaving the scene in a vehicle, causing property damage. The individual was arrested and charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, aggravated menacing, and OVI refusal with a prior OVI conviction within 20 years.

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Paraphernalia Seizure — Oct. 21

A traffic stop conducted on Valley View Road in the early morning hours resulted in a citation for driving under suspension and the seizure of various items of contraband. Officers confiscated multiple vaping devices, dab cartridges, a grinder containing suspected marijuana residue, cannabis products, and other drug paraphernalia. A juvenile involved in the incident was released to a guardian. All contraband was secured for destruction.

Vehicle Strikes Restaurant Building — Oct. 21

Officers were dispatched to Gionino’s Pizzeria on Olde Eight Road on the evening of Oct. 21 after a vehicle struck the building. Officers arrived to find a vehicle had driven into the restaurant structure. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Domestic Disputes

Domestic Dispute on Carter Road — Oct. 7

Officers responded to an address on Carter Road in reference to a domestic dispute between family members.

Domestic Dispute on Kiltie Lane — Oct. 15

Officers were dispatched to an address on Kiltie Lane for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers determined the incident involved a verbal disagreement between a resident and her adult daughter. No charges were filed.

Domestic Dispute on Canyon View Road — Oct. 20

Officers responded to an apartment on Canyon View Road on the morning of Oct. 20 for a report of a domestic dispute involving family members. The incident was resolved without arrest.

Medical Emergencies

Medical Emergency on Mottl Reserve Drive — Oct. 10

Officers responded to a residence on Mottl Reserve Drive for a report of an unresponsive individual not breathing. Emergency medical services were called to the scene to provide assistance.

Early Morning Medical Call on Valley View Road — Oct. 12

The department was dispatched to Valley View Road at approximately 3:50 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive individual.

Property and Other Incidents

Property Recovered on Bike and Hike Trail — Oct. 12

Officers located a green Ozark Trail mountain bike on the Bike and Hike Trail near State Route 82. The bicycle, valued at approximately $400, had a bike lock still attached. The property was secured by police.

Stolen Item Traced to Sagamore Hills — Sept. 26

A business owner contacted the police department to report that stolen property from their establishment was registering a location within the township. Officers responded to an address on Cyrus Lane. An Air Bud device valued at $200 was recovered during the investigation on Sept. 27.

Fraud Report Filed by Resident — Oct. 20

A resident came to the police department to report fraudulent activity related to their Microsoft email account and associated credit cards.

Injured Wildlife Removed from Roadway — Oct. 17

Officers responded to a report of an injured raccoon on South Boyden Road. The Summit County Engineer’s Office was contacted regarding the incident.
