Sometimes you just don’t know how much a simple idea or action can mean to another person. It is easy to forget that in the daily shuffle of life, we all impact and are impacted by those whose lives brush up against ours.
This was the case when in July; Nordonia Hills.news started a new scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt idea was not new; it has been a fun and interesting part of the page for some time. This particular scavenger hunt began on July 25 and ran through August 8. All names of players with the correct answers were entered into a drawing and the winner was chosen randomly. The winner of the two-week contest received four general admission passes to Cedar Point. This scavenger hunt (sponsored by Jackson Comfort Heating and Cooling) looked to be a fun contest with a great prize, but not something that would have a large effect on any lives.
On August 11, the winner was chosen and notified. The staff at Nordonia Hills.news was nearly speechless when the winner, Keely Rivers sent this response after learning of her win.
Talk about a true feel-good moment. This generous, and I might add seriously ill, woman used her time and energy in the hopes of giving her siblings joy with great day at Cedar Point. Additionally, the fun little scavenger hunt helped brighten her days as well. This is most certainly a win-win situation. In response to Keely’s generosity and kind heart, Nordonia Hills.news sent her a lovely bouquet of flowers, via her sister Shanna Rivers, to help brighten her day.
This will now become a new tradition, named in Keely Rivers’ honor. “Rivers of Joy,” is a way to give back and recognize members of our community.
