AKRON – Summit County Sheriff Kandy Fatheree completed the 118th session of the National Sheriff’s Institute Leadership Development Course held in Quantico, Virginia in November. This program is provided by the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) and the U.S. Department of Justice, in collaboration with the Major County Sheriffs of America (MCSA).
“I’m honored to have been a part of these two national courses,” said Sheriff Fatheree. “Those of us in law enforcement leadership perform best when we continue to focus on educating and improving ourselves. This allows us to better prepare for, react to, and learn from the challenges we will face going forward.”
Sheriff Fatheree was selected to join 26 other sheriffs from throughout the nation for training in effective leadership within the Sheriff’s Office, the local criminal justice system, and their community. The NSI program is the only executive leadership program designed specifically for sheriffs in the country.
In addition, Sheriff Fatheree was one of 20 sheriffs from across the country to complete the inaugural session of the NSI’s Jail Administration Course, which focuses on the contemporary challenges of leading correctional institutions, their administration, operations, and improvement planning. This program is provided by the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) and the U.S. Department of Justice, in collaboration with the Major County Sheriffs of America (MCSA), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and the National Association of Counties (NACo).
